“Ritratti”: the inauguration of the exhibition and IMEX’s role

On the occasion of the 76th Venice International Film Festival, La Biennale di Venezia chose IMEX to create the frames for the photo exhibition “RITRATTI – OPERE UNICHE 300 Polaroid Giganti raccontano i protagonisti della Biennale Cinema dal 1996 al 2004” (PORTRAITS – UNIQUE WORKS: 300 Giant Polaroids represent the protagonists of the Biennale Cinema from 1996 to 2004), organized in collaboration with the photo agency Photomovie

The exhibition was held from the end of August at the Hotel des Bains, Lido di Venezia, and collected 300 portraits in maxi format, taken by different photographers using the Giant Camera designed by Polaroid, which works like the smaller instant cameras we all know, returning only unique, non-reproducible positives.

For this project, IMEX designed and created a series of frames that didn’t only enclose and enhance the artworks, but that participated actively in communication, reinforcing the message and holding it there for the eye of the viewers, and playing, once again, the important role of mediator between the industrial world and the art world
